Education Community

Connect with others in your field and become involved in your scientific community

About us

The Education Community promotes the study and dissemination of knowledge of chemical education at all levels.

The Community has two regions and four specialist interest groups. The Education Community Regions organise regionally based activities and projects focused on addressing the needs of teachers specific to their national education systems. Many of the activities are organised in partnership with other organisations.

In addition, the Community awards thirteen prizes: ten Excellence for Education prizes and three Horizon Prizes for Education.

Our strategy

The Education Community Council reports directly to the RSC Professional Standards Board. The role of the community is to foster knowledge and understanding of, and engagement with, all aspects of the chemical sciences relating to learning, teaching, and communication through the guidance of its Council acting to:

  • Identify and address key issues in teaching and learning
  • Support those involved in education and in the development of good practice
  • Effect a synergy between education practice and research
  • Forge co-operation and exchange in teaching and educational research with groups worldwide
  • Represent a lobbying voice for the enhancement of the quality of learning and teaching in the chemical sciences
