The Electrochemistry Group is one of our many Interest Groups. The Interest Groups are member driven groups which exist to benefit our members, and the wider chemical science community, in line with our strategy and charter. The Electrochemistry Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry represents and co-ordinates the interests of a very wide range of scientists involved with all aspects of electrochemistry.
RSC members can join this interest group by updating their details in the “Manage my interest groups” section of the online RSC membership area.

Please get in touch with the Networks Team if you would like to be sent a copy of last year’s annual report for the Electrochemistry Group.
The group issues e-alerts which provides links to group events and other relevant information which may be of interest to you
The committee members listed are responsible for designing programmes that will advance chemistry in the subject area, helping the RSC to meet its aims, engaging with and supporting our members.
We are always keen to welcome new members to the committee. When vacancies arise, we circulate a “Call for Committee”, where an email is sent to all members of the group to make them aware of new opportunities to join the committee.
It is important to have diverse representation on committees to consider the needs of our membership. All RSC members are welcome to stand for committee positions when vacancies are advertised.
The Electrochemistry Group awards three medals and a PhD student award for outstanding achievements in electrochemical sciences:
This is awarded to an outstanding mid-career researcher from outside of the UK and Ireland.
This medal is awarded to an electrochemist working in the UK or Ireland in recognition of their contributions to any field of electrochemistry.
This award is presented to an independent early-career electrochemist working in the UK or Ireland in recognition of their contributions to any field of electrochemistry. These contributions should be recognized internationally and should strengthen the standing of UK and Irish electrochemistry.
This award is presented to a PhD student who has not submitted their thesis by the award deadline studying in the UK or Ireland for excellence in research.
The bursary scheme is currently closed. The Student Bursary scheme provides financial support to promising postgraduate students to attend a major electrochemistry conference abroad. This includes students based in UK or Ireland intending to travel to a major electrochemistry conference abroad and students based abroad wishing to attend a conference in the UK. This year we shall also be considering support for students to attend a major on-line electrochemistry conference. The Bursary Scheme is open to all postgraduate student members of the RSC's Electrochemistry Group undertaking research in electrochemistry. Up to six awards may be made (of up to £300 for an in-person event or up to £200 for an on-line event). The successful applicants are expected to submit a short report for the Electrochemistry Newsletter. The student bursary scheme can only fund up to one student per research group per calendar year. Applications shall consist of:
Applications should be submitted via the submission portal. The portal will request authentication of the application by the student's supervisor.
